10 PEAKS PROJECT

The 10 Peaks Stamp Project is an initiative of the Mountain Club of South Africa Stellenbosch Section (MCSA STE). The goal is for participants to collect 10 stamps on a stamp card from stamps placed on 23 different mountain peaks in the Western Cape.

As mentioned above, the goal of the challenge is to collect ten stamps in a specifically designed stamp card by climbing 10 of the 23 selected peaks and stamping their book with the stamps that are left on the peaks.

The stamps on the peak are rubber, with the logo of the mountain club, and the name and the altitude of the peak. They are hidden in a special container (with the stamp pad and ink) at the beacon. Unfortunately many of the stamps or ink pads go missing and it is difficult to keep maintaining them.  Therefore, we recommend that people keep seperate evidence of their ascends, especially where they can not find stamps.

If you are interested to start participating in the challenge you can send an email to tien-pieke@ste.mcsa.org.za.

You can then use a platform like Peakery to track your ascents. Peakery already has this challenge loaded at: https://peakery.com/challenges/mcsa-stellenbosch-peaks-challenge/. Just register as a user on the Peakery site and start logging one of the peaks in the challenge. Once you’ve logged one of the peaks on Peakery it will automatically register you as a pursuer.

Otherwise, registering with tien-pieke@ste.mcsa.org.za and providing evidence of your ascents via email is also good enough.

Once you’ve collected evidence of bagging 10 of the peaks you can have your stamp card stamped with the missing stamps by one of the committee members. Note that the challenge has 23 peaks, you only have to do 10 complete the stamp book. The completed stamp card can be kept by the participant as a souvenir.
