10 PEAKS CHALLENGE / PROJECT
The 10 Peaks Challenge is an initiative of the Mountain Club of South Africa Stellenbosch Section (MCSA Stellenbosch). The goal is for participants to bag 10 of 23 different prominent mountain peaks in the Western Cape.
Note that this projected used to have stamp cards and a rubber and ink stamp on each peak but unfortunately many of the stamps and ink pads regularly went missing (or got damaged) and it was difficult to maintain them. Therefore, we’ve replaced the stamp card with embroidered badges that members can receive once they’ve completed the challenge. Participants are expected to keep evidence of their ascends no that the stamp cards and stamps are obsolete.

If you are interested in participating in the challenge you can send an email to tien-pieke@ste.mcsa.org.za and join the dedicated 10-Pieke Challange WhatsApp group at this link: https://chat.whatsapp.com/BSsXWWdEEfP8mAmW3THQxM.
On the WhatsApp group people regularly post their ascents and share tips on bagging the peaks and other related information . You can join the group using the link above or you can also be added to the group on request.
You can then use a platform like Peakery to track your ascents. Peakery already has this challenge loaded at: https://peakery.com/
Otherwise, registering with tien-pieke@ste.mcsa.org.za and providing evidence of your ascents via WhatsApp or email or is also good enough.
Once you’ve collected evidence of bagging 10 of the peaks you can collect your embroidered badge (MCSA members only). Note that the challenge has 23 peaks, you only have to bag 10 of the peaks to get the badge.
A list of the applicable peaks, their elevations and location coordinates can be found in the following document: “List of the 23 peaks in the 10 Peak Challenge”.
However, the locations of the stamps relative to the summit beacons are still available in the following document: “10 Peaks stamp locations”, maybe you are lucky enough to still find a stamp or two.
